This week ended up being an experimental journey rather than the completion of a finished piece for me, which was fun too.
For ZIA's I always work in journals, using pen and sometimes markers, but I have an entire room full of art and craft tools and mediums that I have collected and used prolifically over the years. I had to think hard about something to tackle that I hadn't really played with before and remembered that I had some foam blocks that could be moulded into designs to create your own stamps. Always wanted to play with them. Never had. Here was my big chance.
Here's how they work:
the block
Heat with heat gun
Press into something to make impression (remember it will stamp as a negative from the design you are creating the impression from). I used the chimney surround from my wood heater.
the stamped image
embellished with some linework, dimensional medium and white perfect pearls
the finished result
The dimensional paint led me onto a bit more play......
mooka in white dimensional paint
mooka in black dimensional paint with perfect pearls sprinkled over the top to create marble effect
It was fun to drag out some of the old tools and have a play.

ReplyDeleteMay I just ask what kind of foam you used. Is it sold specifically for this, or something you can pick up at Home Depot?
